communication difficulties after stroke
a workshop based project
booklet: 130x200 mm
A workshop leads this project, where is a space to explore stroke survivors’ sense of ownership to
promote self-expression and social connection. The part of understanding stroke is collected by different neurotypical people. Some of the pictures are collected by stroke survivors on pages 60-63.
Coincidently, language and typography are inseparably intertwined.
This guidebook uses the minimalist style of de Stijl to convey the utmost possibility in legibility to
transmit the functionality of a brochure. The design transforms ‘legibility’ to ‘unreadability’ in typography as a concept that visually illustrates the difficulties of stroke survivors.
Awareness of questioning the stigma in brain injury and re-establishing neurorehabilitation is still
unrecognized. Understanding the complexities of brain trauma involves the readjustment of worldviews, which is new to the stage. It is an occasion in which stroke survivors redefine their new selves to speak neurorehabilitation as the time of transition rather than being a ‘victim’.
This guidebook offers an overview of providing psychosocial support and calls communication itself by gathering individual differences.
